AOBTA Board of Directors
Strategic Planning Meeting in Phoenix

This years Board of Directors Strategic Planning meeting of the AOBTA was held in Phoenix, Az. on Jan. 7-10. For those of us who are new to the Board, which included myself, it allowed us to meet face to face with the rest of the Board members. Several of whom have been on the Board for many years.

This was a very eventful gathering of the Board. We are in the process of re-structuring the entire organization for the betterment of the membership. In fact, the “membership” is what we will be focused on in the coming months and years. How we can better serve and support our members and Certified Instructors is where our energies will be directed.

We re-wrote our Missions & Vision statements to read as follows:

Mission Statement: “To provide our members with educational and networking opportunities and to support their
personal and professional development and success.”

Vision Statement: “To support eastern philosophical approaches to health and well being by promoting ABT.”

The Board also decided to re-write our By-Laws to reflect our new Mission & Vision statements. We are re-inventing ourselves to achieve our new goals to improve the Asian Bodywork Therapy industry. Along with improving communication with our members, we will begin to work more cooperatively with other organizations within the Manual & Physical Medicine fields, to educate them as to who we are, how we are different and yet complimentary, and how we can add a lot to this field therapeutically and educationally.

As the 4 day meeting ended, we all left with a renewed spirit of excitement and energy as to the new direction we are going, the new directives we are focused upon, and for the new re-birth we gave ourselves and the organization. This is a New Dawn for AOBTA! And we are ready for the journey.
